About uTurn Project

Who We Are

  The uTurn Project is a registered charitable organization based in Calgary, Alberta, committed to empowering vulnerable and culturally diverse communities. Rooted in compassion and community wisdom, our team includes legal consultants, social support volunteers, community liaisons, educators, and leaders dedicated to strengthening families and reducing harm.

Our Mission

To provide culturally sensitive preventive education, restorative pathways, and coordinated support for families facing domestic violence, social isolation, and systemic barriers—ensuring no one faces their challenges alone.

Our Vision

A safer, more resilient, and inclusive community where individuals are supported, families are strengthened, and cycles of violence are broken through restorative and community-led solutions.

Our Approach

We believe real change happens when communities come together. Through collaboration with legal professionals, Calgary Police Service, first responders, community leaders, and frontline agencies, uTurn provides timely, culturally aware, and trauma-informed support to families across Calgary and surrounding regions.

OUR FOCUS AREAS

South Asian Communities (Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Pashto, Bengali, Nepali speaking groups).

Newcomers, refugees, and immigrant families.

Youth and young adults.

Women, men’s groups, and family units.

Faith communities and multicultural partners.
