These circles are facilitated by trained community leaders, legal experts, and police partners, ensuring a safe, respectful, and confidential environment.

Domestic Violence Consequence Awareness

Many newcomers are unaware of the legal implications of domestic violence in Canada.
Our program provides clarity on:

Emergency Protection Orders (EPOs)
No-contact orders
Police procedures
Court processes
Impact on immigration, employment, and family stability

The goal is prevention through education, not punishment.

Newcomer Integration & Community Navigation

We help new Canadians integrate with confidence through:

Legal referrals
Job market orientation
Cultural education on Canadian laws & values
Resource navigation (housing, benefits, settlement supports)
Mentorship by trained community leaders

Youth Leadership & Mentorship

Our youth program supports the next generation through:

Mentorship circles
Anti-violence and mental health education
Confidence-building workshops
Volunteer opportunities
Leadership training for schools and communities

Conversation Circles (Multi-Language)

Every six months, uTurn hosts conversation circles in 5 major languages, covering:

Mental, physical, and financial abuse
Healthy relationships
Community resources
Legal rights and responsibilities
Conflict resolution skills

Languages currently include Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Pashto, and English (Nepali and Bengali as needed).

Awareness Videos & Public Education

We produce culturally relevant educational videos on:

Domestic violence prevention
Legal consequences
Mental wellness
Newcomer rights and responsibilities

Distributed through community channels, partner organizations, and local media.
